RECALL ALERT: Blue Ridge Beef Voluntarily Recalls Puppy Mix Raw Dog Food Due To Salmonella And Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination

Blue Ridge Beef voluntarily recalls their Puppy Mix raw dog food products along with two raw pet foods for cats, Kitten Grind and Kitten Mix, on Thursday, December 21 due to Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.

The company’s recall included lot numbers and used by dates between N24 1124 to N24 1224 of their 2lb log of Puppy Mix UPC 8 54298 00169 6 along with 2lb log of Kitten Grind UPC 8 54298 00101 6 and 2lb log of Kitten Mix UPC 8 54298 00143 6.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Blue Ridge Beef was notified about the products’ contamination by North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on December 15.

“However, out of an abundance of caution the firm is recalling all lots with the used by dates between N24 1124 to N24 1224,” FDA said.

The recalled products were distributed between November 14, 2023 to December 20, 2023 and sold primarily in retail stores located in the following states: CT, MA, MD, NC, NY, PA & VA. Furthermore, the products were packaged in clear plastic.

Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported as of date.

The FDA is advising consumers who have purchased the recalled products to contact Blue Ridge Beef at [email protected] for a full refund.

Consumers who have questions are also advised to contact Mr. Steven Lea at (704) 880-4500 Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST.

Furthermore, the FDA is urging consumers to NOT donate the affected products and instead destroy them in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access.

If you’ve purchased the recalled products, please monitor yourself for the following Salmonella symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.

In addition to this, do not forget to monitor your pets for the following Salmonella and Listeria symptoms: lethargy, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets may also display decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain.
