Mid America Pet Food voluntarily recalls three lots of their Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Select Beef Meal & Brown Rice Formula on Monday, October 30 due to possible Salmonella contamination.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the voluntary recall came after a third-party conducted random sampling and the products with three lots tested positive for Salmonella.
The recalled products were produced at the company’s Mount Pleasant, Texas production facility and were distributed to various distributors and retailers across the country.
The affected products are the following:
Product Description | Lot Number | Bag Size | Best By Date |
Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Select Beef Meal & Brown Rice Formula | 1000016890 | 5 pound bag | 6/12/2024 |
1000016891 | 15 pound bag | 6/12/2024 | |
1000016892 | 40 pound bag | 6/12/2024 |
The FDA is advising retailers and distributors to immediately pull the recalled products from their inventory and shelves. And consumers are urged to not feed the recalled products to pets or any other animals.
Furthermore, the FDA strongly advise to not sell or donate the recalled products but instead destroy them in a way that no human or animal can access it.
The FDA also reminded consumers to “wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups and storage containers. Always ensure that you wash and sanitize your hands after handling recalled food or any utensils that come in contact with recalled food.”
