RECALL ALERT: Mid America Pet Food Expands Voluntary Recall And Includes Additional Dog and Cat Food Products Over Possible Salmonella Health Risk

Mid America Pet Food is expanding its voluntary recall on November 9 to include multiple dog and cat food products that were also potentially contaminated with Salmonella.

The expanded voluntary recall was issued after some of the product lots tested positive or Salmonella through random and targeted sampling, both conducted by the company and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

The recalled products were made in the company’s Mount Pleasant facility and with Best By Dates before 10/31/24. And they were distributed to distributors and retails throughout the United States.

The dog food products that are affected by this recall include:

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a total of seven people, six of them being infants, reported Salmonella infections.

The FDA is currently investigating this case and said, “Five of these cases reported exposure to dogs and three reported feeding Victor pet food to their pets.”

The FDA continues to advise consumers to throw away the recalled products in a secure container where no human or animal can access it.

Furthermore, the FDA strongly advises to clean and disinfect all pet supplies and surfaces that the food or pet had contact with.
