According to broadcaster Alexander Armstrong, the late queen, who died on Thursday at the age of 96, used to enjoy writing letters to other dogs on behalf of her royal canines.
In the ITV documentary “The Queen and Her Cousins,” Armstrong said that the monarch had a hilarious practice of penning letters from her cherished corgis to the dogs of her staff members. He said he even hung up a handwritten letter from the queen’s former equerry, Sir Blair Stewart-Wilson, in his bathroom.
Talking about Sir Wilson, Armstrong said, “He [Stewart-Wilson] would write these letters from their Jack Russell to the corgis and the Queen would write these letters back. And they put this series of letters up, and they are so funny,” he recalled. “I wish I could remember them. I remember holding my stomach, howling with laughter because they are wickedly funny.”

The queen, who fell in love with the breed at the age of seven, liked her dogs so much that she created her own hybrid breed, the “dorgi,” with her sister Princess Margaret in the 1970s, which was a cross between a dachshund and a corgi.
During her lifetime, Queen Elizabeth owned 30 corgis and dorgis. She is survived by four dogs: two corgis, one dorgi named Candy, and a cocker spaniel named Lissy.
The Duke and Duchess of York — Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson — are taking the late queen’s corgis since Fergie “bonded” with them.
The couple divorced in 1996 and now live at the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate.
According to CNN, the Duchess and the monarch connected over their mutual love of dog walking and horseback riding.
According to the insider, Sarah maintained her friendship with the Queen even after her divorce from Prince Andrew by walking dogs through the Windsor estate.
