After being mauled by a dog, an 83-year-old woman passed away from her injuries.
Shirley Patrick tragically died more than two weeks after being mauled by the animal and suffering critical wounds. Following an attack in Heol Fawr, Caerphilly, on December 3, she was transported to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where she passed away on December 20. A 55-year-old male, who was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is thought to be her son Paul, has now been released.
Four people who were detained on suspicion of having a dog that was out of control and inflicting injuries have been released on bail with conditions. Officers apprehended and destroyed the dog, a massive black XL bully cross cane corso breed.
Officers will keep conducting inquiries in the neighborhood, according to Gwent Police.
Det Chief Insp Matthew Sedgebeer said: “If you have concerns or any information regarding this dog and its previous behaviour then please do stop and talk with us.”
Just over a year ago, a few streets away from this attack, a 10-year-old boy named Jack Lis was attacked and killed by a dog.
