Heartbreaking as it may be, abandoned dogs in public places are not a rare sight.
In a Facebook post shared by the Wisconsin Humane Society, a dog named Baby Girl was left tied to a fire hydrant in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The sad photo of the dog can be seen tied to a bright yellow fire hydrant in the middle of a neighborhood, left with a backpack full of her favorite toys and possessions. It garnered more than 4,000 shares on Facebook and was featured on WeRateDogs, a popular Instagram account.
Baby Girl’s tragedy, fortunately, has a happy ending.
“The international response to this pup’s story has been overwhelming, and the outpouring of kindness for her previous owner has truly filled our hearts to the brim. We have been in contact with the previous owner, and were grateful for the chance to connect with her, and honor her wishes for Baby Girl to find a new home,” WHS said in a post.
On May 12, the Wisconsin Humane Society updated that Baby Girl has found a new home! WHS said in the update, “Baby Girl was made available for adoption today and had a few folks eagerly waiting to meet her right when we opened. She has officially found a new home! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
